Roger Residence

Kaufman Residence

Queens, NY

This project involved the legalization of existing interior partitions and a series of structural and fire safety upgrades to bring the property into full compliance with NYC building regulations. Architecture Studio provided architectural design, construction oversight, and filing services with the NYC Department of Buildings, including the resolution of ECB Violation No. 34713462X for unpermitted construction. The scope of work included structural repairs to an existing exterior advertising billboard and the construction of new interior partitions on the second floor to accommodate a layout of 58 cubicles, as per approved plans. While there were no changes to the building’s use, egress, or occupancy classification, system upgrades were necessary to meet current safety requirements. The sprinkler system was redesigned to suit the new layout and is pending filing under the commissioner's order. In addition, the fire alarm system was updated to align with the revised interior configuration. This comprehensive effort modernized the space and ensured full regulatory compliance while maintaining the building’s original function and flow.
